There may be an Airbnb or a vacation rental that offers you essentially the same services at fewer prices. There are many different types of accommodations available in Montreal, and the city itself is very busy with lots of great things. If staying at one or more of Montreal's many vacation homes or Airbnbs is what you want to do, then staying at one or more of the many other places that people rent their homes and offer great views are perfect.

How do I get from one place to another?

Montreal has many different neighborhoods, so if you are planning on staying in one of these homes, it will be easy to get around. Luckily, you have many choices!

Public Transportation: There are many different ways to get around in Montreal. You may buy your tickets at most stations, but if you are going to ride a bunch of subways and buses, getting iPass Montreal is ideal. A $10 day transit pass gives you free access to the city's subway and buses for one day!

If you'd just like to take the subway, a regular ride on the subway costs only $3.25. You can also buy a book of 10 subway tickets for $27.50. You could even buy ten tickets to ride the metro for just $27.50 (or, the bus)! You may be able to get a smartcard that allows you to buy unlimited rides and access other features on STM (Societe de transport de Montreal). Opus cards cost $6 each, and you may choose to load up the credit card with money or pass money.

Cash values work just like reloadable debit cards - just put some money in the slot on the back of your bus ticket and start riding. If it's likely that you'll use public transit a lot, we suggest getting a smart card that allows you to buy a range of different tickets that will allow you to use the STM system to pay for your transportation. Opus cards let you buy prepaid travel passes that allow you to use all the public transport in Montreal for a single price. These are available in three different packs of $3, $19, and $26.

Passes that allow riders to travel as many times as they want within a certain time frame. This is great if you plan on visiting several different attractions! If your stay is longer, don't be afraid - there are 31-day unlimited use passes available for just $84.

Montreal has several major highways linking it with the rest of Canada and Quebec. If you've driven from an area other than Quebec or New Brunswick, the highway to reach Montreal will be the 401 in Ontario and the 20 in New Brunswick.

From Quebec City, you can get to Montreal by taking Highway 20 through the city and into Quebec City. Highways 15 and 15A run north-southed, allowing you to connect to many cities in Canada.
