The most convenient way for visitors to travel to Montreal is to use public transportation. There may be an Airbnb or a vacation rental that offers you essentially the same services at fewer prices. How do I get from one place to another?

Montreal has many different neighborhoods, so if you are planning on staying in one of these homes, it will be easy to get around. Luckily, you have many different options for getting around in Montreal.

Public Transportation: SMTC operates both the subway and the bus in downtown Montreal. You will have the opportunity to purchase tickets at many metro stations and enjoy unlimited rides for a full day. You can get a $10 daypass to use the free metro or the free bus transportation for an entire day.

If you just plan on taking the subway, it will cost you about $3.25 to ride the same route. You could get a good deal by buying a cheap set of metro tickets ($12) that allows you to ride the metro or bus system unlimited times. You'll need a card in order to buy tickets for the subway or bus system, but you will need to purchase an Ops card in order to make purchases. Opus cards cost $6 each, and you may choose to load up the credit card with money or pass money.

Cash-value cards work like reloadable debit cards, so when someone asks for your money, they just give it to the person who will pay the fare for the trip, and then the fare will be deducted from the money that your account has. If there are many times that you will be traveling by public transit, you should get an Ops card that offers you unlimited fares. You should buy either 1-, 2-, or 3-day unlimited pass cards for $10, $15, or $27 for a one-week pass.

Passes that are valid for 7 days allow riders to travel anywhere they want to go! Those passes are especially handy if you are going to do a bunch of things! If it's going to be a while, don't be worried because Opus is offering 31-day unlimited use passes for only $84!

Montreal has several highway connections that allow you to travel easily between other areas of Canada and Quebec. It's best to drive from Quebec or New Brunswick to Mont-Royal by taking the 401 to York (or the 20 to Saint John).

Those coming directly from other provinces can use Highway 4 to get to Montreal, and from there, you can drive to the city of Quebec City! Highways 15 and 16 take you along the main roads of Quebec City.
