STM operates both the citys subway system and the citys bus systems. You will be able to buy Metro tickets at most Metro stations. Using the subway to travel from one city to another is really easy, and if you just want to ride the subway, the ride will cost you just $3.25. Opus cards are available for purchase for only $6 each, and you are able to load the cards with cash or Montreal Metro passes.

Cash values work just like putting money in your bank account and then paying the corresponding fare each time that your transit passes by. If it's likely that you'll use public transit often, you might want to buy an Ops card that has a number of fares attached to it, and not get cash.
