If you'd just like to take the subway, a regular ride on the subway costs only $3.25. You can also buy a book of 10 subway tickets for $27.50. You could get a good deal by buying a cheap set of metro tickets ($12) that allows you to ride the metro or bus system unlimited times. If you're traveling a lot, you may want to get a Metro card or an Ops card to use for subway and bus rides. Opus cards are available for purchase for only $6 each, and you are able to load the cards with cash or Montreal Metro passes.

Cash-value cards work just like reloadable debit cards; they allow riders to pay fares for their rides using money that they have saved up. If it's likely that you'll use public transit a lot, we suggest getting a smart card that allows you to buy a range of different tickets that will allow you to use the STM system to pay for your transportation. Opus cards cost $6 each, and you pay either with cash or with passes to ride for the day.
