A $10 day transit pass gives you free access to the city's subway and buses for one day!

If you'd just like to take the subway, a regular ride on the subway costs only $3.25. You can also buy a book of 10 subway tickets for $27.50. You could even buy ten tickets to ride the metro for just $27.50 (or, the bus)! You will need to buy a pass that gives you unlimited access to the STP system. Buying a smartcard that allows you to travel on any STM train or bus system that is in the city is also an option. Opus cards cost $6 each, and you buy cards with cash or tourist passes to add to your card.

Cash-value cards work just like reloadable debit cards; they allow riders to pay fares for their rides using money that they have saved up. If it's likely that you'll use public transit a lot, we suggest getting a smart card that allows you to buy a range of different tickets that will allow you to use the STM system to pay for your transportation. You should buy either 1-, 2-, or 3-day unlimited pass cards for $10, $15, or $27 for a one-week pass.

The pass can be loaded with as many city tours as your heart desires! If your stay in Montreal is more than just a week, don't be worried - as long as it's over for 31 days, the fares will be just as cheap.

Montreal has several major highways linking it with the rest of Canada and Quebec. If you've never been to Canada before, driving through Ontario is the easiest way for you to reach Montreal.

If you've driven from outside of Quebec, you can take the highway that leads through the city to a number of other cities in the country - even to Quebec City! Highways 15 and 40 run from Montreal to other parts of Quebec and Highway 2 travels between Montreal and Quebec.
