When to Visit Montreal, Canada.

There is also a good selection of other types of accommodations in the city that will allow you to have a pleasant vacation at tastier rates. How do I get from one place to another?

Montreal has many neighborhoods that are hard to access by foot, so taking public transit or renting a car to get around is advisable. Luckily, you have many different options for getting around in Montreal.

Public Transportation: Metro and buses run all over Montreal. You may purchase tickets for the metro at many of the stations; we would also highly suggest buying a free day-pass for any trip that you plan to take. Day passes cost only $10 for one day and let you travel throughout the city for free.

If you just want to ride the subway, it only costs $3.50 for a one-way ride. You might want to buy ten tickets, since some stations sell them for just $27.50 each. If you're traveling a lot, you may want to get a Metro card or an Ops card to use for subway and bus rides. Opus cards are really nice and you pay for them with money or with points.

Cash values work just like reloadable debit cards - just put some money in the slot on the back of your bus ticket and start riding. If it's likely that you'll use public transit often, you might want to buy an Ops card that has a number of fares attached to it, and not get cash. Opus cards are reloadable with cash value or with season passes to ride on the STM subway and buses for a very low price.

Some transit cards let you ride the metro or the bus as often as it's convenient for you. This is great if you plan to do a whole lot if you stay here. If it's going to be a while, don't be worried because Opus is offering 31-day unlimited use passes for only $84!

Montreal has some great highways, connecting it with the rest of the province and the rest of Canada. You'll find that driving through Ontario is the easiest way for you to travel to Quebec City. You can get there by taking either Highway 301 or 20 (whichever route you choose) if you live in New Brunswick/New Jersey.

Those coming directly from other provinces can use Highway 4 to get to Montreal, and from there, you can drive to the city of Quebec City! Highways 15 and 15A run north-southed, allowing you to connect to many cities in Canada.

Montreal, a lovely, historic town with many attractions, is very easy to get to. Here's a list of tips that will help ensure that you enjoy yourself while you are in Montreal.

Plan a visit to the city during one or more of Montreal's many major festivals. From visiting the Jazz Festival in summer to hanging out at one of the many bars in the city center for a good laugh, there is something to do in Montreal for every vacationer.
