There is plenty of cheap accommodation in the city, depending on the kind of trip you want to take. Many Montreal hotels offer guests the kind of amenities that they need, such as spas, gyms, and swimming pools. But hotels in these areas can get very pricey quickly. There will be plenty of cheap Airbnbs available for you to rent. These apartments are located in Montreal's bustling downtown, where there are many fun things for visitors to enjoy. If what you want is a truly unique vacation in Montreal, staying at one or more of the dozens of Airbnbs and vacation rental houses in Montreal is definitely your way to go.

How do I get to my accommodation and what can I do?

Montreal has many different neighborhoods, so taking public transport or renting a car to get around is advisable. Luckily, it is not very difficult to find a place to stay in Montreal, and even if you are very lucky, finding a good place to stay can be quite easy.

STM operates both the citys subway system and the citys bus systems. You may purchase tickets for the metro at many of the stations; we would also highly suggest buying a free day-pass for any trip that you plan to take. A metro or bus pass is only $10 for a full day of free travel!

If you only plan to ride the subway, it will cost you $3.25 to ride the subway for a few minutes. You can buy 10 tickets for $27.50. You may be able to buy ten individual metro tickets, which will allow you to ride the entire system for just $7.50. If you're traveling a lot, you may want to get a Metro card or an Ops card to use for subway and bus rides. Opus cards cost $6 and can be filled with money or other value.

Cash values work just like reloadable debit cards - just put some money in the slot on the back of your bus ticket and start riding. If it's likely that you'll use public transit often, you might want to buy an Ops card that has a number of fares attached to it, and not get cash. You will need to pay for a day of unlimited rides to get around Montreal. These cards are prepaid and you pay with cash or cards that are prepaid.

The pass can be loaded with as many city tours as your heart desires! If your stay in Montreal is for a longer time, don't fret because there are many other options!

Montreal has several highway connections that allow you to easily travel around the city and to neighboring provinces. If you've driven from an Ontario province, you'll want to take the Highway 301 or 20 (or other major routes) to drive to the city.

If you've driven from outside Quebec, you can take Highway 14 through Mont-Royal to get to Montreal (and even to Quebec City!). From there, it's easy to drive to several other cities in Quebec, but it's easier to get to Montreal by bus! Highway 156 runs north-southern along the shores of the Saint Lawrence River (or the RR) in the city's northeast corner.
