STM operates both the citys subway system and the citys bus systems. You will have the opportunity to purchase tickets at many metro stations and enjoy unlimited rides for a full day. A $10 day transit pass gives you free access to the city's subway and buses for one day!

Using the subway to travel from one city to another is really easy, and if you just want to ride the subway, the ride will cost you just $3.25. You might want to buy ten tickets, since some stations sell them for just $27.50 each. Depending on your plans, you might be able to get a regular pass for $10 or you might want to get a smart ticket for $2. You get that by purchasing a card called an Opis card, and it works much like a regular smartcard. Opus cards are available for purchase for only $6 each, and you are able to load the cards with cash or Montreal Metro passes.

Cash values work just like reloadable debit cards - just put some money in the slot on the back of your bus ticket and start riding. If there are many times that you will be traveling by public transit, you should get an Ops card that offers you unlimited fares. You will need to pay for a day of unlimited rides to get around Montreal. These cards are prepaid and you pay with cash or cards that are prepaid.

Passes that are valid for 7 days allow riders to travel anywhere they want to go! Those passes are especially handy if you are going to do a bunch of things! If it's going to be a while, don't be worried because Opus is offering 31-day unlimited use passes for only $84!

Montreal has several highway connections that allow you to easily travel around the city and to neighboring provinces. If you are driving to and from Montreal from outside of Quebec or New Brunswick/Nebraska, the easiest way is to take Highway 301 from Toronto.

If you've driven from outside Quebec, you can take Highway 41 to travel to Montreal from other provinces. It will also connect you to the capital city of Quebec, Montreal! Highways 15 and 16 go north and south through the city, connecting several major cities in Quebec and Canada.
