If you've only planned to take a few subway rides during your trip, the trip costs only $3.25. You might want to buy ten tickets, since some stations sell them for just $27.50 each. Opus cards are available for purchase for only $6 each, and you are able to load the cards with cash or Montreal Metro passes.

Cash-value smart cards work just like if your bank deposited money in a credit/debit account, so when someone charges someone to ride a metro or bus, the money is automatically deducted from the balance that was deposited. If there are many times that you will be traveling by public transit, you should get an Ops card that offers you unlimited fares. Opus cards cost $6 each, and you pay either with cash or with passes to ride for the day.

Some transit cards let you ride the metro or the bus as often as it's convenient for you. This is great if you plan to do a whole lot if you stay here. If your stay in Montreal is more than just a week, don't be worried - as long as it's over for 31 days, the fares will be just as cheap.

Montreal has several highway connections with other areas in Quebec, as well as other Canadian provinces. If you are driving to and from Montreal from outside of Quebec or New Brunswick/Nebraska, the easiest way is to take Highway 301 from Toronto.

Those coming directly from other provinces can use Highway 4 to get to Montreal, and from there, you can drive to the city of Quebec City! Highways 15 and 15A run north-southed, allowing you to connect to many cities in Canada.
