Sometimes the most luxurious hotels in Montreal are quite a bit more costly. There will be plenty of cheap Airbnbs available for you to rent. Airbnb and other vacation rental options are very common in Montreal. The city is very vibrant and filled with fun things for you to see and do. If staying at one or more of Montreal's many vacation homes or Airbnbs is what you want to do, then staying at one or more of the many other places that people rent their homes and offer great views are perfect.

How will you get from one place to another?

Montreal has many different neighborhoods, so travelling by bus or taking a taxi is incredibly easy. Luckily, it is not very difficult to find a place to stay in Montreal, and even if you are very lucky, finding a good place to stay can be quite easy.

STM operates both the citys subway system and the citys bus systems. Metro tickets are easy to buy at most metro stations, and a metro pass is great if you plan on riding a bunch of the city's major transit routes. You can get a $10 daypass to use the free metro or the free bus transportation for an entire day.

If you just want to ride the subway, it only costs $3.50 for a one-way ride. You could even buy ten tickets to ride the metro for just $27.50 (or, the bus)! If you're traveling a lot, you may want to get a Metro card or an Ops card to use for subway and bus rides. Opus cards are very inexpensive, and you pay for them with cash or tickets.

Cash values work just like putting money in your bank account and then paying the corresponding fare each time that your transit passes by. If it's likely that you'll use public transit a lot, we suggest getting a smart card that allows you to buy a range of different tickets that will allow you to use the STM system to pay for your transportation. You should buy either 1-, 2-, or 3-day unlimited pass cards for $10, $15, or $27 for a one-week pass.

The pass can be loaded with as many city tours as your heart desires! If your stay in Montreal is for a longer time, don't fret because there are many other options!

Montreal has several highway connections with other areas in Quebec, as well as other Canadian provinces. If you've never been to Canada before, driving through Ontario is the easiest way for you to reach Montreal.

If you've driven from outside Quebec, you can take Highway 14 through Mont-Royal to get to Montreal (and even to Quebec City!). From there, it's easy to drive to several other cities in Quebec, but it's easier to get to Montreal by bus! Highways 15 and 16 go north and south through the city, connecting several major cities in Quebec and Canada.
