If you'd just like to take the subway, a regular ride on the subway costs only $3.25. You can also buy a book of 10 subway tickets for $27.50. You may be able to buy ten individual metro tickets, which will allow you to ride the entire system for just $7.50. Some people opt to buy an Ops card, a rechargeable smartcard that allows you to use the public transportation system of the city. Opus cards are available for purchase for only $6 each, and you are able to load the cards with cash or Montreal Metro passes.

Cash values work just like reloadable debit cards - just put some money in the slot on the back of your bus ticket and start riding. If it's likely that you'll use public transit often, you might want to buy an Ops card that has a number of fares attached to it, and not get cash. You should buy either 1-, 2-, or 3-day unlimited pass cards for $10, $15, or $27 for a one-week pass.

Passes that allow riders to travel as many times as they want within a certain time frame. This is great if you plan on visiting several different attractions! If your stay is longer, don't be afraid - there are 31-day unlimited use passes available for just $84.

Montreal has several highway connections that allow you to go to parts outside of the city, like Quebec City or Ontario. If you've driven from an Ontario province, you'll want to take the Highway 301 or 20 (or other major routes) to drive to the city.

Those coming directly from other provinces can use Highway 4 to get to Montreal, and from there, you can drive to the city of Quebec City! Highway 156 runs north-southern along the shores of the Saint Lawrence River (or the RR) in the city's northeast corner.
