How do I get from one place to another?

Cash-value cards work like reloadable debit cards, so when someone asks for your money, they just give it to the person who will pay the fare for the trip, and then the fare will be deducted from the money that your account has. When you plan on using the metro or bus a lot, we strongly suggest getting a card that has passes on it, rather than using cash to buy the fares. Opus cards cost $6 each, and you pay either with cash or with passes to ride for the day.

Some transit cards let you ride the metro or the bus as often as it's convenient for you. This is great if you plan to do a whole lot if you stay here. If your stay in Montreal is more than just a week, don't be worried - as long as it's over for 31 days, the fares will be just as cheap.

Montreal has some great highways, connecting it with the rest of the province and the rest of Canada. You can reach Montreal easily by taking the 401 in Ontario, or the 20 in New Brunswick/N.

From Quebec City, you can get to Montreal by taking Highway 20 through the city and into Quebec City. Highways 15 and 15A run north-southed, allowing you to connect to many cities in Canada.
