How do I get to places?

Montreal has many different neighborhoods, so travelling by bus or taking a taxi is incredibly easy. What's great is that you have lots of different options for getting around in Montreal.

There are plenty of public transportation options in and around Montreal. You need to buy a ticket or a pass to ride the metro or bus throughout the city. A metro or bus pass is only $10 for a full day of free travel!

If you'd just like to take the subway, a regular ride on the subway costs only $3.25. You can also buy a book of 10 subway tickets for $27.50. You will get a one-day pass for $10 or a pass for 10 days for $27.58. You'll need a card in order to buy tickets for the subway or bus system, but you will need to purchase an Ops card in order to make purchases. Opus cards are available for purchase for only $6 each, and you are able to load the cards with cash or Montreal Metro passes.

Cash values work just like reloadable debit cards - just put some money in the slot on the back of your bus ticket and start riding. If it's likely that you'll need to use public transport a lot, we highly suggest getting a card that gives you access to more than 100 different types of passes. Opus cards cost $6 each, and you pay either with cash or with passes to ride for the day.

Passes that are valid for 7 days allow riders to travel anywhere they want to go! Those passes are especially handy if you are going to do a bunch of things! If it's going to be a while, don't be worried because Opus is offering 31-day unlimited use passes for only $84!

Montreal has some great highways, connecting it with the rest of the province and the rest of Canada. It's best to drive from Quebec or New Brunswick to Mont-Royal by taking the 401 to York (or the 20 to Saint John).

If you've driven from outside of Quebec, you can take the highway that leads through the city to a number of other cities in the country - even to Quebec City! Highways 15 and 17 lead north-southand along the main lines of the Transcanadiens and other major highways.
