How do I get to places?

Public Transportation: SMTC operates both the subway and the bus in downtown Montreal. Metro tickets are easy to buy at most metro stations, and a metro pass is great if you plan on riding a bunch of the city's major transit routes. You can buy a ticket that will allow you to ride the subway or buses around the city for one day.

Using the subway to travel from one city to another is really easy, and if you just want to ride the subway, the ride will cost you just $3.25. You will get a one-day pass for $10 or a pass for 10 days for $27.58. If you're traveling a lot, you may want to get a Metro card or an Ops card to use for subway and bus rides. Opus cards cost $6 and can be filled with money or other value.

Montreal has some great highways, connecting it with the rest of the province and the rest of Canada. If you are driving to and from Montreal from outside of Quebec or New Brunswick/Nebraska, the easiest way is to take Highway 301 from Toronto.

If you've driven from outside of Quebec, you can take the highway that leads through the city to a number of other cities in the country - even to Quebec City! Highway 156 runs north-southern along the shores of the Saint Lawrence River (or the RR) in the city's northeast corner.
