Those who are seeking a great Airbnb or other rental property in the city are best off staying at one or more of the many other options available in Montreal.

How do I get to my accommodation and what can I do?

There are plenty of public transportation options in and around Montreal. Metro & Bus: Metro tickets are sold at most metro stations. We suggest purchasing a daily pass unless you plan to do a ton of walking or riding the bus a good deal. Day passes are very cheap and allow you to travel around the city on a daily basis.

If you'd just like to take the subway, a regular ride on the subway costs only $3.25. You can also buy a book of 10 subway tickets for $27.50. You will need 10 metro tickets if you are planning to ride the subway a lot. It will cost you $11 to buy 10 Metro tickets. You will need to buy a pass that gives you unlimited access to the STP system. Buying a smartcard that allows you to travel on any STM train or bus system that is in the city is also an option. Opus cards are really nice and you pay for them with money or with points.

Cash-value cards work like reloadable debit cards, so when someone asks for your money, they just give it to the person who will pay the fare for the trip, and then the fare will be deducted from the money that your account has. If it's likely that you'll need to use public transport a lot, we highly suggest getting a card that gives you access to more than 100 different types of passes. Montreal has several highway connections that allow you to easily travel around the city and to neighboring provinces. It's best to drive from Quebec or New Brunswick to Mont-Royal by taking the 401 to York (or the 20 to Saint John).

If you've driven from outside Quebec, you can take Highway 14 through Mont-Royal to get to Montreal (and even to Quebec City!).
