If you want to go to the city by the subway, you can get a ticket for $3.25 for one trip. You could get a good deal by buying a cheap set of metro tickets ($12) that allows you to ride the metro or bus system unlimited times. You may want to consider getting an Opis card, a smartcard that allows you to purchase tickets for a number of different things to do in the city. Opus is a simple smart card that allows you to pay for your rides with any amount of cash or a pass.

Cash values work just like reloadable debit cards - just put some money in the slot on the back of your bus ticket and start riding. Montreal has several highway connections that allow you to easily travel around the city and to neighboring provinces. It's best to drive from Quebec or New Brunswick to Mont-Royal by taking the 401 to York (or the 20 to Saint John).

If you've driven from outside Quebec, you can take Highway 41 to travel to Montreal from other provinces. It will also connect you to the capital city of Quebec, Montreal! Highways 15 and 15A run north-southed, allowing you to connect to many cities in Canada.
